Last night, the Grand Rabbi of Satmar, Rabbi Zalmen Leib Teitelbaum, issued a severe denunciation against the select few in Jewish circles who are aiding efforts by Zionist organizations to stir resentment in NYC by branding Mayor Mamdani as an antisemite for his stance against the Israeli government. The Rabbi went as far as to request that his thousands of followers not read various publications that play an illicit political game by brandishing the antisemite sword against our Mayor.
The remarks were made at the memorable occasion marking the 47th Yartzeit (death anniversary) of our Rebbe, Mentor, and Father, Rabbeinu Yoel Teitelbaum, of blessed memory, in Kiryas Joel, New York.
As we have extensively reported, the Zionist machine has imploded since the election win of Zohran Mamdani. They have tried every tactic in their playbook to paint the mayor of the largest Jewish community in the USA as a virulent Jew hater. Mayor Mamdani has remarkably stayed the course with his position on the Israeli government, unyielding, yet he has vociferously explained that his opposition to a political entity by no means translates into Jew hatred.
Since taking office, Torah Jews have been at the forefront of battling the Zionists, who were left with one powerful yet very common trick, that is, using NYC Jews as bait in an attempt to vanquish what they viewed as a formidable enemy. Israeli politicians, in a bromance with Zionist organizations in NYC, have wielded tremendous influence in the public narrative to politicize antisemitism at every corner.
The antisemitic notion that Jews and Israel are one has been actively volunteered by Zionists as the only fact to accept, and subsequently, criticism of Israel was instantly aired as alleged Jew hatred. What Zionists seek to establish is no new phenomenon. But at this juncture, they are not exploiting Jews who are unaware of their practices and underhanded tactics.
We Jews in NYC are fully aware that Zionists intend to use our very existence as cannon fodder every time the Mayor voices criticism of a foreign country. But Zionists found themselves mired in a problem they hadn’t expected. What’s that? Jews are fighting back.
We are not allowing them to stir resentment in our beautiful city by allowing their dangerously false conception that NYC Jews are somehow extensions of Israel and are vulnerable when a foreign country is opposed. We are fighting back tooth and nail on social media, in our communities, and now, the Grand Rabbi is publicly condemning those who dare join the Zionist smear campaign.
We tell Zionists: lower your arms. You will not succeed in our city. We will not cower. The truth that Zionism is diametrically opposed to Judaism will be heard, no matter how powerful the wave is that is trying to drown it.
